The Simple Traffic Light System I Use to Review My Business
I love making things simple.
Not because I’m above complexity, obviously. I can overthink with the best of them.
But because when money feels confusing, complicated systems usually make people avoid it even more.
So for the Mid-Year Money Reset Assessment, I created a simple traffic light dashboard.
You look at 10 key areas of your business:
Revenue
Expenses
Profit
Cash flow
Debt
Tax clarity
Content and visibility
Marketing and lead generation
Sales
Mindset
Then you give each one a color.
🔴 Needs Attention means this area needs focus, support or a decision.
🟡 Needs Watching means it’s okay for now, but it needs stabilizing or more clarity.
🟢 Feels Solid means this area feels clear enough for now or going well.
⚪ Not Sure Yet means you need more information before deciding.
That’s it.
No universal “good” or “bad” numbers. No comparing your business to someone else’s.
Because a green for one business could be a red for another.
One person might feel amazing at $5k months because they’re starting out or have low expenses. Someone else might feel stressed at $50k months because the profit is tiny and the delivery is eating them alive.
The point is not to grade yourself.
The point is to stop guessing.
Once you color-code your dashboard, you can see what needs your attention for the next six months. Maybe it’s tax. Maybe it’s profit. Maybe it’s your mindset because your belief has taken a hit.
Pick one or two areas. Start there.
I use this dashboard system in my business to get a snapshot of where we’re at and what’s going well. You don’t need to know every stat, pick your own adventure.
