How to Feel Worthy of Money (Even When You Don't Believe It Yet)
There is a version of worthiness work that gets talked about a lot online. It involves vision boards, affirmations, and journaling prompts that ask you to describe your dream life in vivid detail.
And there is nothing wrong with any of that — I love every part and recommend them all. But it also skips a step.
Because most people who struggle to feel worthy of money are not struggling because they haven't visualized hard enough. They are struggling because something much earlier told them that people like them do not get to have that much.
Worthiness is not a mindset you can think your way into
I have worked with thousands of entrepreneurs on money mindset since 2012, and the worthiness block shows up in almost every single one of them. Smart, capable, hardworking people who still feel, in some deep and quiet way, that the abundance they want is meant for someone else.
It shows up as:
- Charging less than the market rate and feeling vaguely relieved when clients agree to it
- Adding extra calls, bonuses, and sessions to packages that were already fairly priced
- Feeling uncomfortable when a client pays without negotiating
- Saying yes to projects that are almost right because waiting for the right one feels greedy
- Deflecting compliments about your work before they have finished the sentence
These are all symptoms of the same problem: a deep belief that you are not quite enough to ask for more.
Where the belief comes from
For most people, worthiness wounds start early. Long before you had a business. Long before you had a pricing page.
Maybe money was tight growing up, and you learned that wanting things caused stress for the people you loved. Maybe you were taught that good people give and only selfish people take. Maybe someone laughed at your ambition, or told you to be realistic, or gave you a look that said you were getting above yourself.
And then you became an adult, started a business, and carried all of those old messages straight into your pricing conversations.
This is why affirmations alone often feel like putting a bandage on the problem. They sit on top of the belief without touching what is underneath it.
What actually moves the needle
The work that shifts worthiness is slower and deeper than most people expect. It involves:
- Going back to the origin stories and understanding where your money beliefs were formed
- Doing forgiveness work on the people and experiences that created those beliefs
- Building new neural pathways through repetition, including affirmations, tapping, and meditation
- Practicing receiving in small, daily ways to retrain your nervous system
- Getting honest about where you are currently accepting less than you deserve
One of the tapping scripts I use with my students goes like this: even though I don't feel worthy, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.
Not because the affirmation instantly makes you feel worthy. But because the combination of the tapping, the words, and the repetition starts to create a new default. A new pattern. A new set of rules about what you are allowed to receive.
A practice to start today
Stand in front of a mirror. Look yourself in the eyes and say: I love you. I approve of you.
Notice what comes up. The little voice that says but not because of this. The resistance. The discomfort.
That discomfort is the work. And it gets smaller every time you show up for it.
Want to go deeper?
I have put together a free collection of 14 meditations and affirmations specifically designed to help you work through the layers of the worthiness block. It is called Choose Yourself, and it is available free at the link below.
