You Can Still Be Successful If You're "Bad With Money"
I want to say something that might be a relief to hear: you do not have to become a different person to be successful with money.
So many of the entrepreneurs I work with come in believing they need to fundamentally transform into someone organized, disciplined, numbers-obsessed, and naturally good with finances before they're allowed to make real money or build real wealth.
That's not true. And honestly, it's a pretty exhausting story to be carrying around.
The Story Most People Tell Themselves
"I'm just bad with money."
It usually gets said with a kind of resigned humor, like it's a fixed personality trait, the same way someone might say "I'm just not a morning person."
But unlike being a morning person, this particular story tends to sabotage things — because if you believe you're bad with money, you'll often avoid looking at it, which then makes the situation genuinely harder, which then reinforces the belief. It's a loop.
I'm here to interrupt that loop.
What "Bad With Money" Usually Actually Means
In my experience, when someone says they're bad with money, what's usually really going on is one of a few things.
They've never been taught practical money skills, and nobody is naturally born knowing how to budget, price, or invest. These are learned skills, not innate talents.
They have unprocessed money blocks from childhood or past experiences that make looking at money feel unsafe, so they avoid it, which then looks like being "bad" with it.
They're actually quite capable, but they're comparing themselves to an unrealistic, hyper-organized standard that isn't necessary for success anyway.
None of these things are permanent character flaws. They're starting points.
You Don't Need to Be Perfect to Be Successful
I know entrepreneurs who have built successful, high-earning businesses while still describing themselves as disorganized, non-linear thinkers who occasionally forget to send an invoice for two months.
Success and perfect organization are not the same thing, and you don't need the second one to have the first.
What you do need is a willingness to look. Not perfectly, but consistently and without excessive self-judgment.
That's a completely different bar than "become a naturally gifted numbers person."
